Happy summer, friends! The weather in Maine over the last month has felt like we’re already here, so I’m hopeful it means we’re in store for more sunshine all season long! Here’s how I’m weekending:
on ways I can be a better ally to the black community. My office gave us Juneteenth off and provided us with resources on unconscious bias, cultural communication, and more. I’m thankful to work for an employer dedicated to making the world we live in a better place, and I’m excited to dig in and learn more about how I can be improving my actions.
to the beach! I spent yesterday morning beachcombing with Moxie, and walked away with a handful of seaglass! We are so lucky that Saco’s beaches are dog friendly year-round, which is pretty rare for Maine! I love it because I get to be near the water, and Mox loves it for all of the weird smells!
out into the “real world”! Matt and I headed up to Portland last night to see our friends and brave dining for the first time in the age of covid. Many of the streets in the Old Port have been closed to car traffic so restaurants can increase their outdoor dining space. All of the alfresco restaurants feel so European. I hope that this is a part of the new normal that sticks around.
Premier League – sports are back, baby! While soccer normally wouldn’t be my first choice, beggars can’t be choosers, and I’m just happy to see real, live sports on TV again. Go Chelsea!
to Working It Out, Mike Birbiglia’s new podcast. He’s my favorite comedian – so I was thrilled to see that he launched a podcast! His first episode is with This American Life host Ira Glass, I highly recommend it!
How are you weekending?
Enjoy the sunshine and the first delicious days of summer!
